We’re really excited to bring this to you and we’ll have more details on it closer to release. It’s a free update to all our customers who have the current version of Pocket Weather. It will support both iPad and iPhone, as well as the Apple Watch. The new version is looking nothing short of amazing. He’s been working on it full time ever since. Jeff was naturally excited, and joined the Shifty Jelly team back in June of this year. Re-written from the ground up using Swift 2.0 and using all the latest iOS 9 and Watch OS 2 technologies. We pitched the idea of a brand new Pocket Weather to Jeff. So we hunted low and high until we finally found the perfect person for the job: Jeff Tan-Ang of OzTV fame. Today we’d like to give you an update on where we are now, and what’s coming in the near future.Įarlier this year we realised that we didn’t have the resources to give Pocket Weather the love it so deserved. We also know that we’ve been very quiet recently about what our intentions for Pocket Weather Australia and Pocket Casts are. We know that our iOS customers are really excited about all the possibilities these two new releases bring. Pocket Casts 5 is a Free Update to existing users and if you haven’t already tried it, goes for $3.99 on Google Play.Today, Apple released iOS 9 and will shortly release Watch OS 2 to the world. Don’t miss viewing your listening stats under Settings > Help. If you have an Android Wear watch, you can control Pocket Casts 5 right from your wrist. Swiping right to left on an episode toggles between its played/unplayed state. Swiping from right to left in the mini player when playing an episode shows you your current queue and the play buttons for the episodes turn into little “+” buttons. With this release, you can also manage your ‘Up Next’ queue in a much better way. When playing a downloaded episode, you can change the playback speed, smartly remove extended silence and even boost the volume of the episode without worrying about your device volume. The other notable feature in Pocket Casts 5 is the addition of Audio Effects. ![]() You can choose between a Light and Dark theme, although I personally prefer the default Light theme itself. A podcast’s artwork really shines in the app, especially since the background colors in various views are chosen depending on the colors in the artwork. ![]() ![]() The app not only looks stunning now, but also features some really well-done animations and transitions. The most notable change shipped with this release of Pocket Casts is the Material Design visual language that the app now sports. Today, Shifty Jelly has released version 5 of the Android app, a major update that brings in a gorgeous Material Design implementation as well as a host of new features. The talented artists at Shifty Jelly have been doing some remarkable work churning out fantastic updates to the app, making it our favorite podcast app for iOS, Android and even on the Web. Pocket Casts has long been one of the best podcast clients out there, for any platform. ![]()
